Sanity is over rated. The drive to life is built on madness. The madness of starvation, the madness of pain, the madness of sexual desire. Sanity is necessary for cooperation and coherence. Madness is necessary for survival, vigor and the will to life. Sanity to interface with the collective, and madness for the drive and will of the individual.
