They NEEDED the Arctic and Antarctic to keep warming and losing ice. The Antarctic getting colder and gaining ice represents a complete rejection of their CO2 warming conjecture. As with the "missing heat" from 1998 to 2014, they claim that this is "just a temporary trend change" and that warming will continue shortly, but that's just the thing - the cooling periods invalidate all their claims. They weren't supposed to happen and do not show up in their models, i.e. the hypotheses underlying their models are wrong..
