Ok, so I am progressing pretty well... I have Fedora 42 Security Edition installed in dual boot with Windows 11 Pro. I configured grub to boot the way I want it to boot the default and set the delays. I am able to get into both Fedora and Windows via grub at reboot. I have...See more

Looks like with my specific desires and needs, I have landed on a combination of Linux distros for the house that should work for the linux side - but I will have to also find ways to help the others switch from Windows to Linux... Fedora 42 Security Edition/Spin for me, Fedora...See more

Alright... So, I am probably going to install Fedora 43 (after it releases and has a month or so of updates) or Nobara on 12+ of our systems and then I want Kali/Backbox (hopefully 10 comes out soon) on 1-2 systems (one just kali/backbox, the other will dual boot the user friendly distro and Backbox). This will allow me to use the tools I need on those systems I need to, and a user friendly linux on everything else. I am not 100% sure on the Nobara/Fedora option, so if you have a suggestion other than Ubuntu I am open to hearing it and why...

So, there has been a bunch of personal stuff that happened this past week and stopped me from being super active recently... I just got another laptop, installed kali on it. I am getting it up and running now so that it is fully ready for me to test out. However, I am curious...See more

I'm curious which distro everyone uses. I know currently there are only like 2 of us, but this is meant to be around for a while - hopefully we will grow... I will post what I'm using in the comments too.

Interesting issue, I had installed a fresh install of blackarch, and it ran fine. But I was using that system as a test system, so I switched from blackarch to backbox 9, again no issues. Then I wanted to show someone something using blackarch, then it would not update. So, I tried reinstalling and it would not finish the install.... Now, it is running archcraft without issue. I'm not sure why, but I seem to get a lot of weird issues... Anyone have any ideas what is going on? (It is a laptop this time, but I have issues on desktops too)

This is for those using Ubuntu or planning to use Ubuntu. They use Gnome heavily, and xorg/x11 is being removed. This may impact those who are using xorg/x11 and not Wayland.

I would like to introduce myself here. I am an old noob. I 1st tried to replace Windows with Linux back in the 1990s - but it was not capable of doing tasks I needed. Same in the 2000s, 2010s, and now in the 2020s. I have kept an eye on Linux, and I have taken several college...See more
