Spain / Portugal - it was definitely the "green", i.e. wind & solar energy

Spain blackout: All fingers point to a spike of solar power in the grid. Red Eléctrica warned about the risks associated with renewable energy back in February. The usual idiots who worry about "the climate" (which is 100% fine) just don't get it... I posted this just hours before the blackout: https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/1763517587603333120

The official estimate is that data centers will require 2x more energy by 2030, mostly due to AI 🤔 Total consumption for data centers will correspond to the total energy use of Japan. The human brain remains unsurpassed in terms of IQ per Joul. They had better start optimizing those AI processors! Then again, humanity uses just about the equivalent of 0.01% of the amount of energy reaching planet earth from the sun. So who cares? https://www.handelszeitung.ch/newsticker/datenzentren-brauchen-bis-2030-doppelt-so-viel-strom-813800-1

This matches my own observation: driving at a slower speed consumes much more! Not just between 30 and 50 km/h. In the 1990s, I traveled from Lausanne to Prague by night, i.e. I left at around 9pm, which, back then, meant that I faced very little traffic. I consumed about...See more
