This X-ray shows 17-month-old Nicholas Holdman from Kentucky who fell and a car key pierced his eyelid and penetrated his brain. The metal key passed through his eye socket and lodged deep in his skull. Initially, the family was told that Nicholas' eye had been shattered. However, after another team of specialists examined the boy, they discovered something miraculous. Although the car key had penetrated his brain, Nicholas had suffered no permanent damage. The key had somehow missed all major blood vessels, nerves, and critical brain structures.
