King Robert II

40% blended scotch. Quite terrible neat, but OK with ice. Really great with soda. Usually that totally ruinates everything, but in this case: I recommend. Winston Churchill would give this stuff thumbs up. Me... I like drinking whiskey. When even do I have soda? I have to consider that beforehand. Bloody hell... The only whiskey I've yet had that is better watered way down.

Bourbon. 43%. Skip the ice, this stuff is delicious. Burns, yes, but has that smooth vanilla taste to it, that some bourbon has. Probably great with Prins Polo. I am currently out of that. I like it. Not the best one, but worthy.

Whyte & Mackey

Blended Scotch. 40% Fairly smooth, weird tasting whiskey. Ice or no ice, not much matter. Ice just makes it last longer. Very drinkable and unoffensive, but the actual taste of it is not to my preference. Better than Jameson & Chivas, to give it faint praise.

If you like a rusty nail (scotch and drambuie) this is basically it, premade in a bottle. Shanky’s Whip: Irish whisky with caramel and vanilla. It is a sweet liquor but I made an old fashioned with it and orange bitters (no need for simple syrup) and it’s quite good.

A little off the whiskey trail, but traveling the well beaten path of beer, a unique treat. Has anyone ever had a beer float? We actually pursued this idea in my younger years, lol. The winning combination, for those adventurous types, Budweiser and butter pecan ice cream. I don't particularly like Budweiser, but it was the best compliment to the butter pecan we could find. Follow me for more spiritual recipes!

So glad I found this group. I've always been fond of whiskey. My favorite, for the last 40 years has been Tullamore DEW. Tripled distilled Irish whiskey with a smooth flavor. Last year I bought a new whiskey, Jimmy Red. It really reminds me of a good scotch. It's made from red corn growing in South Carolina, a little hard to find. Has anyone else tried this yet?

Johnny Walker Black Label 12 year old Scotch. Very harsh stuff without the ice. OK with. Pretty much *the* on-the-rocks whiskey. Better whiskey is available. Chivas is not one of them. Churchill used to drink this... in soda. Or maybe that was red label. That stuff is kinda awful though. Iconic brand, but mediocre product.

Old Virginia, aged 6 years. Fairly smooth and flavorful, mostly vanilla, I think. No ice, this is the opposite of Wild Turkey. Ice just dampens it, makes it taste watery. Why have Jack Daniel's when you can have this?

Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon. 40.5% Tastes like aged scotch. Like 18+ year old stuff, I mean. Completely atrocious straight, but really palatable with an ice. Bloody stuff's like paint thinner... Not expecting this. This is supposed to be cheap, but it tastes like expensive scotch. Old, I mean. Old scotch is all like acetone and inner tubes. Like this, but this doesn't have that burnt rubber taste. So... better. Unexpected. But is what it is. For fans of scotch whiskey.
