When I got my maturity (the Swiss high school diploma) in 1982, only 15% of the Swiss population did and only 9% went on to study at a university. Those who did never had a problem getting a job. When they simplified the maturity to increase the number of recipients to 29%, youth unemployment increased immediately. It's still very low (2.5 to 3.5%) when compared to the EU, but in 1989 - before Switzerland started adapting to the EU - total unemployment was 0.9% and unemployment among young people was virtually zero.
